The idea of the Kingdom comes, of course, from the fact that 3 of the Nordic countries (Denmark, Norway, Sweden) are in fact Kingdoms and are ruled by royal families. The other two, Finland and Iceland, secretly wish to be kingdoms as well

Now that we’ve got that one straight, we can move on to the next dilemma: what countries form Scandinavia? For a graphical explanation, let’s go to SATW comic and find out How the North works :)

The new FR Team should include nothing but motivated and ambitious members as they will be handling contact to business and our surroundings on behalf of BEST. Therefore interested members had to apply by giving three sentences that explains their motivation and potential, and those chosen were invited to participate in an FR training on the 8th of September. The training was about the basics in FR and also on setting goals for the team in the upcoming year, and it all ended up with the formation of the FR Team. All members have since that day taken on tons of FR assignments, which also means that tons of companies are being invited to Presidents’ Meetings.

But knowing the task and having an idea about how to solve it does not necessarily create good results; motivation is needed, as motivation is key in almost any aspect of life. To create motivation and team spirit in the FR Team, we chose to have a nice dinner and a beer after the training. Also, the teamwas given a catchy name that relates to the purpose and the spirit.

So without further ado, I would like you all to welcome TASK FORCE DINERO who will be working non-stop on making Presidents’ Meeting legendary!

And it is a known fact that we just do things a bit different here in the Nordic Kingdom. One of such things is the fact that we do not organise job-fairs for FR. Not because we are lazy, but simply because in Denmark, we already have an organisation that specialises in such events for students at the technical universities across the country.

The organisation is called DSE (De Studerendes Erhvervskontakt) 

– Student Business Relations. Just like BEST, DSE counts it history back to 1989, when they became the missing link between the engineering students and industrial world. Since then DSE has been organising yearly job fairs:  2-day long events with over 250 companies participating and 10 000 visitors. This is, in fact, the biggest job- and career-fair in the Nordic region! Another service of DSE is a “Focus Evenings”, where specific companies are invited to interact with students. In addition, each year DSE publishes a company-catalogue, where students can find information and contact for any relevant company in Denmark and abroad. This catalogue is a “must-have” handbook for every newly graduated DTU student in search for a job, and for current students who are looking for an internship, study project or a student job. Forming an alliance with DSE is, thus, a logical step for RBG Copenhagen, since this dynamic organisation has so many years of experience dealing with companies than we ever can achieve in only a few months before PM.

We in RBG Copenhagen have been working with DSE for many years, and among other things we get a free stand at the DSE job-fair every year. In the spirit of our fruitful cooperation we are proud to announce that DSE has agreed to help us out with preparing for the company day at PM’11. Our agreement states that DSE helps us with contacting companies while, in exchange, DSE members are invited to participate on the actual company day. DSE also provides us with inspiration to, and feedback on, our FR materials in order to target the Nordic mindset.

Due to this alliance on FR for PM’11, we have now succeeded in contacting 284 companies with offices in Denmark and Southern Sweden. One of the companies, Maersk, had previously announced their participation, while we have received positive responses from numerous other companies. We expect to hear from many more companies, when the industrial holidays in Denmark ends, and the second step of the FR process (where we start calling interested companies) is set to start in August. Based on this cooperation with DSE, it is our goal is to provide diversity and global representation to the pool of industrial delegates at CPY Day, where we hope to host a vast number of Danish and International companies.

In RBG Copenhagen, we are very happy with our DSE-alliance and we look forward to continue our FR-process for PM’11.
